Quarry PictureSAMSA is the Silica and Moulding Sands Association, founded in 1941. It is now a constituent body of the Mineral Products Association. SAMSA is a member of the Industrial Minerals Association of Europe (IMA) and makes a significant contribution to the operation of its Silica Section, Eurosil.

Silica has many uses including glass, ceramics and horticulture, utilising a variety of different types of sand such as silica sand, moulding sand, topdressing and root zones sand, ménage sand, filtration sand, equestrian sand, glass sand, resin coated foundry sands, kiln dried bagged paving sands and sports turf sands .

SAMSA membership is open to silica extractors and processors and currently the membership represents ten of the UK's leading producers.

The Silica and Moulding Sands Association is part of the Mineral Products Association, the trade association for the aggregates, asphalt, cement, concrete, lime, mortar and silica sand industries.
